Today we honor our brave service members and express gratitude for the sacrifices they've made to defend our nation and democracy.

I am the proud grandson of three World War II veterans. My grandfathers served as pilots, and my grandmother served in the Coast Guard, so I grew up hearing many stories of their time serving our country.

Right now far too many veterans in our country are struggling, and it's unacceptable. No veteran should have to worry about employment, housing, food, or medical care when they return home.

We can and must do more to ensure our veterans and their families have quality health care, mental health services, educational and entrepreneurial opportunities, and access to affordable housing.

Thank you to all our veterans for your service and the sacrifices you've made to preserve our democracy and keep all of us safe. It's an honor to serve you in Congress, and I will always fight to ensure you have the resources you need and the support you deserve.
