John –
Not just today on Veterans Day, but every day, we are duty-bound to honor and thank our friends, family and community members who have so bravely served in our armed forces.
For me, like so many, today is a personal one. My grandfather served two tours in Vietnam and told me stories growing up of his tours abroad. But his life was cut short due to his exposure to Agent Orange when he was overseas.
It’s because of him that I proudly led the charge in Congress to get our veterans exposed to Agent Orange access to their full benefits. And we still have a long way to go. Housing, healthcare, education - all these are areas where our country is falling short in providing our veterans with the benefits they’ve earned.
We can never fully repay the men and women who put their lives on the line for our country, but we sure as heck can keep working to get closer.
To our veterans and their families — thank you for your sacrifices.
In gratitude,
Josh
