Dear Friend,
Books banned. Courses canceled. Teachers under attack. School board meetings disrupted.
It’s happening across the country. These are just a few of the consequences of a wave of alarming legislative efforts to limit teaching and learning on topics including racism, gender, and American history. While there are essential debates to have about how we teach and learn history, legislative bans are not the right answer.

Earlier this week, we put out a report about these educational gag orders, many of which would punish educators, colleges, schools, and districts that dare to cover excluded topics. They’ve already had a chilling effect on campuses and in classrooms across the country, on both open discourse and academic freedom.
We need your help to keep calling out these threats and sounding the alarm. Will you contribute today to our work? ([link removed])
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer,
