Folks,
Today, on Veterans Day, we show a special appreciation for the veterans who put their lives at risk to keep us and our country protected each and every day.
While it’s important that we honor the people who sacrifice their safety for our well-being, as a member of Congress, I implore us to do more.
Our veterans undergo traumatic experiences during the duration of their service, and their mental health often gets ignored. That’s why I was a proud co-sponsor of the PAWS for Veterans Therapy Act -- offering dog therapy for veterans diagnosed with PTSD.
In addition to supporting our veterans’ mental health, it’s crucial that we support them in the aftermath of their service. There are over 2.5 million veteran-owned businesses in the United States -- and a handful here in MI-11.
For the past week, I’ve been uplifting the veteran business owners in our district, and I encourage you to do the same.
We need to show our veterans that they matter -- both during and after their service. I won’t rest until our veterans and service members are treated with the honor and dignity they have earned.
Thank you to all those who have served, and still do.
Haley
