John,
As a 20-year Navy veteran, Veterans Day means a lot to me. I like to reflect on my own time in the service, and think about all the wonderful, hard-working folks I met along the way.
This day is also always a reminder of the work that needs to be done to better serve our veterans when they return from their service -- mental health resources, affordable housing, and desirable job opportunities all come to mind.
While we can never fully repay our veterans for their service to our country, we can fight to live up to the promises we’ve made to them. That’s why protecting veterans and expanding their rights are chief among the reasons I decided to run for office -- and I take pride in being one of the foremost champions for veterans’ rights in the House.
I hope you get some time today to reflect on the sacrifices veterans have made for this country, and thank any veterans that you have in your life. Serving veterans in Congress is an honor, and I will always fight to make sure you have the support they deserve.
Thank you,
Elaine
