During the entirety of Donald Trump’s presidency,
“infrastructure week” became a running joke. It was supposed to
be one of his signature issues. He promised to deliver during his
campaign, but it never materialized during his presidency.

But President Joe Biden and the
Democratic-controlled Congress have advanced the bipartisan
infrastructure framework within a year, a massive and
unprecedented investment in our nation’s crumbling
infrastructure. This achievement shows that when Democrats are
elected, they get stuff done. Big stuff!

Here’s just a few of the investments in the
bipartisan infrastructure framework:

* $65 billion to update the electric grid in the face of national
disasters.
* $55 billion to improve water quality, including replacing lead
pipes.
* $39 billion to modernize and expand access to public transit.
* $25 billion to upgrade airports.
* $7.5 billion to establish a nationwide network of electric
vehicle chargers.
* $1 billion to reconnect communities that have been historically
segregated by physical barriers.

These funding areas have a true impact on our
everyday lives. Safer roads, improved water quality, better
airports, expanded broadband, and more public transportation
makes everyone’s lives easier and more productive.

When Democrats are in charge, they pass bills to
help women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and
working families. When Republicans are in charge, they pass bills
to help the top 1%. It’s really that simple.
