John, Our Revolution endorsed candidate India Walton won the Democratic primary for Mayor of Buffalo. Instead of accepting the clear verdict of the voters, corporate Democrat Byron Brown raised a ton of big money from Republicans and special interests to fund a write-in campaign for the general election. And now, even though he didn’t run as a Democrat, the establishment wants him to keep his position as part of the DNC. As our Chair Larry Cohen said accurately, keeping Brown at the DNC is a disgrace. He relied on wealthy Republican donors to win re-election, and keeping him at the DNC is a slap in the face to Democratic voters who roundly rejected him.

Our Revolution has focused from the beginning on reforming the DNC so that it truly represents working people and our interests. We fought for and won the creation of the first Environmental and Climate Crisis Council in DNC history. Our organizing within the party has directly led to key rules changes to ensure that voters — not Superdelegates — select our Democratic presidential nominee, encouraged state parties to adopt same-day party and voter registration, and expanded vote-by-mail. Working to make the Democratic Party reflect its stated values is a crucial component of achieving progressive change, and we’ll never stop calling corporate “Democrats” who betray everything the party is supposed to stand for. Our Revolution is fighting for the real normal Democrats who actually believe in our platform, not the corporate sell-outs willing to betray working people to reward special interest donors and big oil. If you are with us, pitch in now! In solidarity, Our Revolution
