Everyone deserves to live in a healthy and clean environment, no matter his or her income or zip code. Maryland communities are already beginning to feel the ravages of climate change, and we must act now to make them adaptable and resilient. Unfortunately, there are wide gaps between neighborhoods in the quality of air, water, and soil that Marylanders work and play in every day—we’re going to change that, and I’ve got a climate plan that lays out how to do it.

Tonight at 6PM, my campaign is hosting a virtual town hall about my plan to make Maryland a national leader in the fight to combat the climate crisis, and I hope you’ll join us by clicking here. We’ll be joined by Montgomery County Sierra Club Chair, Shruti Bhatnagar, and there will be time at the end of our conversation for a live Q&A session.

We’re already seeing the cost of inaction through floods, rising sea levels, droughts, and heat waves and we can’t afford to wait any longer to tackle the climate crisis head-on. My plan to prepare Maryland for climate impacts includes building adaptable and resilient communities by making key investments in infrastructure, stormwater management and green spaces.

We’ll invest in infrastructure resilience and planning to ensure our roads, bridges, public transportation and coastal areas, particularly in under-resourced communities most impacted by climate change, are better prepared for and can adapt to a warming planet. We’ll ensure all Marylanders can access healthy green spaces, community gardens and farmers markets, walking and bike trails, and public transit, which will improve our air quality and our community's health and wellbeing. And I’ve committed to supporting and properly implementing the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s efforts to plant 5 million trees on the Eastern Shore and provide funds to expand those efforts statewide.

Climate change affects all of us, and it’s going to take all of us to step up to the challenge it poses. So I hope you’ll join us tonight to learn more about my climate plan and what actions we can take today to combat the climate crisis.
