I’m not from the bourbon industry, but I always believed that our fates as Kentuckians are intertwined.
Right now, there is a historic wave of labor strikes happening across the country.
From the folks who make Heaven Hill bourbon here in Kentucky to the workers at John Deere, workers are claiming their power. And winning.
Just a couple of weeks ago, UFCW 23D voted to ratify a new contract with Heaven Hill after weeks of walking the picket line. So we’re celebrating and raising a glass to the workers who fought hard for this victory with some brand new merch — Booker for Kentucky Bourbon glasses.

Over the years, I’ve been proud to stand on the picket lines with teachers, on the railroad tracks with coal miners, and with workers at Churchill Downs. Together, we held the line for fair wages, the right to unionize, sick days and paid family leave, and for a shot at bettering our children’s future.
So when unionized workers at Heaven Hill Distillery demanded a fair contract from their management, I understood how important it was to support the workers as they went on strike to demand that executives support the people who make this industry the bedrock of Kentucky’s economy.
Because that’s what we do in Kentucky. It’s part of who we are.
The workers I’ve met are the very reason why I’m running this election to replace Rand Paul. Earlier this year, Rand introduced legislation that would nationalize anti-union policies. Legislation that has proven to reduce worker pay and put more money in the pockets of the rich. Together, we must stand up to politicians like Rand and the companies who are benefiting from his anti-union agenda.
Our work isn’t over yet, and there’s a long way to go when it comes to transforming the future of our Commonwealth and to deliver the policies that working families in Kentucky need.
So in honor of our Commonwealth’s proud tradition in labor movements — and in honor of the fights to come — we created a Booker for Kentucky Bourbon glass.
