We’ve got another shot at this! U.S. Representative John Larson (CT-01) has reintroduced his Social Security bill that will improve and strengthen Social Security at a time when millions of older Americans are counting on their earned benefits just to stay above the poverty line.

Already, the “Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust Act” has nearly 200 cosponsors and the enthusiastic backing of the advocacy community. With the support of our million+ members and supporters like you, the National Committee has championed Social Security’s expansion for many years, working closely with Representative Larson’s office.

But there is a powerful contingent in Congress who would rather cut your earned benefits to pay for unrelated programs than strengthen Social Security for workers and retirees.

Representative Larson’s bill is exactly what current and future beneficiaries need. Among other important provisions, it will provide an across-the-board benefit increase for all beneficiaries, put Social Security on a financially healthy track by making the wealthy pay their fair share into the program and adopt a fairer, more accurate Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).

Bottom line, this bill undercuts deceptive and misleading propaganda that Social Security is somehow “going bankrupt” — and safeguards the system’s long-term future without cutting benefits, raising the retirement age or imposing miserly COLAs.
