Alliance for Justice’s Bolder Advocacy program is excited to launch the first four resources in its new Practical Guidance – What Nonprofits Need to Know About Lobbying state law resource series.

This new Practical Guidance series provides nonprofits with user friendly guides designed to help navigate to the edges of complex state laws around lobbying state legislatures and city halls, as well as advocating in state and local executive offices and administrative agencies. The guides are also a great reference for attorneys and compliance professionals working to aid nonprofits doing this critical state and local advocacy work.

The first four states available are Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, and North Carolina, with more states coming soon.

Each guide includes:

Summary of lobbyist registration and reporting triggers in the state
Key critical takeaways for nonprofit organizations
FAQs – giving practical perspective on how to interact with the state rules
Case study for a hypothetical small student voting rights organization
List of helpful additional resources

In the coming weeks, as we near the opening of 2022 legislative sessions, Bolder Advocacy will be hosting a series of free webinars focusing on each of these four states. Training sessions will be available for 501(c)(3)s, 501(c)(4)s, and for lawyers interested in learning or deepening their knowledge to support nonprofit advocacy organizations in the states.
