John -
Join us in Washington, DC on Monday, November 15 for a Moral Monday: Build Back Better from the Bottom Up!
While members of Congress are home this week and when they come back to DC next week, we need to be there in numbers to demand the Senate and House #HoldtheLine on the key provisions.
The BBB is not THE solution, but is an important step, in a series of steps, to invest in the lives and livelihoods of the people – especially the 140 million people living poor and with low incomes in this nation. This is our final shot to make sure all of the lifesaving elements and programs are included in the plan:
- 6 million 3- & 4 year-olds will benefit from universal pre-K
- 4 million people get health insurance by expanding Medicaid
- Extends Child Tax Credit for millions of parents
- $250 million saved by giving government power to negotiate drug prices
- 4-week paid family and medical leave
This week the West Virginia Poor People's Campaign hosted the national co-chairs and economist Dr. Jeffrey Sachs for a powerful community forum on the impact of their senators' actions on the state. Watch here as they read the letter sent to President Biden demanding he meet with them and other poor and low-income people, and then sign onto the letter and share in your networks.
Please help us ensure a huge turnout for this important event here in the Nation’s capital. There will be activists from across the country arriving in specially chartered buses. Let us show our national and local leaders that DC stands with them and that we, too, demand the passage of the Build Back Better legislation. NOW.
Additionally, we need activists who are willing to serve as marshals for the event. Please click here to sign up.
Forward together – not one step back!
(Note: After you register for the event, you will receive guidance about its exact location, which is still TBD.)
