Providence Journal: This RI neighborhood will soon be underwater forever. Can it be saved?

We need a governor who will take immediate and decisive action on climate change. Add your name if you agree >> [link removed]

Team,

The science is clear: Climate change is creating more extreme weather patterns and contributing to rising sea levels. We've already seen the effects of coastal flooding right here in Rhode Island. Earlier this year, the aftermath of Hurricane Ida flooded roads and basements in the northeast, and Warren, Rhode Island was no exception.

Warren is already in danger of being underwater due to rising sea levels. In the next 14 years, the highest daily tides in Warren are estimated to reach 31 buildings housing 86 people.

Last week, the House passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and may soon pass the Build Back Better plan. These bills represent the biggest investments to fight climate change in our nation's history, including funding to protect against extreme weather and increase climate resilience.

While Washington is finally working to address climate change, Rhode Island needs to act too.

As Governor, Seth will make funding for climate resiliency projects a priority, creating jobs in the short term and preserving our quality of life for all in the years to come. That means further investments in clean, renewable energy, climate resilience, and combating carbon emissions.

Add your name if you believe we need a governor who is ready to take action on climate change and invest in climate-resilient infrastructure >>
