Bringing Sustainable Investing Options to 140 Million Americans
November 17, 2021, 3pm ET
More than 140 million American workers participate in 401(k) or other ERISA plans, yet less than 3% of employee retirement savings plans include climate-friendly investing options. A new proposed rule from the U.S. Department of Labor would open the way for companies and other retirement plan sponsors to include more sustainable options in their saving plans by enabling fiduciaries to consider climate and other ESG factors when selecting investments and exercising shareholder rights while continuing to uphold fundamental fiduciary obligations. Join us on November 17th to gain a deeper understanding of the
impact of the proposed rules on ESG investment opportunities, receive guidance on submitting public comments to Department of Labor by December 13th, and explore why we need to create a strong public record in support. |
PoliticoLive: Sustainability Summit: From Pledge to Action - The Next Sustainability Wave
November 16, 2021
On the heels of the U.N. Climate Change Conference, POLITICO convenes its inaugural sustainability summit to explore what it will take to go from making pledges to taking action. Many major companies and brands have set ambitious corporate climate goals, vowing to cut down on greenhouse gas emissions and waste. Statements such as net zero, eco-friendly, and zero-waste are commonplace. But how are these companies using their influence to drive policy change in Washington and influence consumers? The world’s largest companies are pledging to cut their carbon footprints and adopt more sustainable business practices. Asset managers have vowed to put sustainability at the center of their
investment strategy, putting pressure on household brands to go carbon-neutral across their operations, supply chains and product life cycle. Is this translating into climate action? What benchmarks should be used to measure progress and ensure transparency? What do businesses need from Washington to help them achieve long-term success? What are the gaps between climate commitments and proven results?
Join Steven Clarke, Ceres' Senior Director of Climate and Energy, and others on Tuesday, November 16th at 10:40am ET for a discussion on what it means for companies to deliver on corporate climate pledges. Register here. |
