Carbon Markets and the neoliberal construct Net Zero emissions, which equates carbon emission offsets and technology investments with real emissions reductions at source. We are calling for local, community controlled solutions to the climate crisis that leave no one behind and stops the harmful practice of sacrifice zones.
It Takes Roots delegates have participated in panels and organized rallies and protests both inside COP26 and outside with social movements
from around the world. We called attention to the connection between militarism and climate change, and joined our international partners in denouncing the most exclusionary COP ever. We continue to push back hard against climate profiteers and fossil fuel lobbyists, who wield an extraordinary amount of influence in these international negotiating spaces. This year, the largest delegation to COP is fossil fuel lobbyists. We can’t let that stand. In addition to fighting the bad, we are building the new through stronger
relationships and living our power every day on the streets of Glasgow. The time we have spent together, painting banners, marching for climate justice, learning from each other, and building community has been invaluable.
