On December 1, Brett Kavanaugh and Donald Trump's Supreme Court will hear a restrictive Mississippi abortion case. Kavanaugh could effectively overturn Roe v. Wade.
We need to defeat every single GOP Senator who supports banning abortion. Democrats must immediately focus on Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida, and North Carolina where we have opportunities to expand our razor-thin 50/50 Democratic Senate Majority.
And right now POLITICO reports that North Carolina is “Democrats' most winnable flip.”
That's because Cheri Beasley— who POLITICO just called “the future of the Democratic South”— is running for retiring GOP Sen. Richard Burr's seat. Cheri Beasley is a brave former public defender and historic state Supreme Court chief justice running the Stacey Abrams playbook. Stacey laid the groundwork here, starting a progressive movement in Georgia that has swept the South. And now The Charlotte Observer reports that Beasley is the undeniable front-runner thanks to early, urgent progressive support.
But Mitch McConnell is overjoyed following Republican Glenn Youngkin's shell-shock victory in the Virginia governor's race, POLITICO reports. McConnell and Trump just anointed anti-abortion election-denier Ted Budd to crush Beasley, and Trump's base has already funnelled millions to Budd's Senate campaign.
We are doing everything we can to elect Cheri Beasley, but we're still more than $1,000 away from hitting tonight's fundraising goal. And if we fall short, we'll have to dramatically scale back our plans in North Carolina. Budd will crush Beasley and Mitch McConnell will retake control of the chamber and consolidate his grip on Donald Trump's conservative-packed Supreme Court.
