John - I'm Sara Gideon, and I'm running to unseat Republican Senator Susan Collins and flip Maine blue.

Let me tell you why: When you're in public office, when people have trusted you to be their voice - you work for them. This has been the guiding principle for my service on town council, in the state legislature and as Maine's speaker of the House.

It should hold true for any public office, yet it's not what I'm seeing coming out of Washington from Susan Collins. She's in lockstep with Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell when they need her most.

She fell in line to pass the GOP tax scam, overwhelmingly benefiting the top 1% and corporations. And she cast one of the decisive votes to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, jeopardizing the future of reproductive freedom.

I've had enough. But I can't win this alone, so my friend Catherine asked me to reach out to her grassroots team for help:

When something is broken or causing more harm than good - you fix it. That's why I'm running to unseat Susan Collins. And I'm relying on grassroots donors like you to power my campaign. So I'm asking, John: Will you donate $5 or more to help me win in Maine so Catherine and I can flip the Senate blue? The future of the Supreme Court is on the line.

It's time for a change - but I know winning this race won't be easy.

Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight ranks Maine the most flippable seat in the country. And with the path to a Senate majority hinging on what happens here, ultraconservative outside groups will spend untold amounts of money to support Susan Collins and keep the Senate red.

We're building a grassroots campaign, not relying on deep-pocketed special interests - and with our October fundraising deadline rapidly approaching, we're still falling $3,197 shy and counting on you to help us hit our goal.

I'm ready to get things done for Mainers and fight for the very real issues that we all care about: health care, education, reproductive freedom, climate change.

So, John, will you give now to help me beat Susan Collins, flip Maine blue and take back the Senate for Democrats?

Thank you,

Sara Gideon
