Dear John,

As Ethiopia edges toward civil war, we call on our supporters to pray for peace, reconciliation and reconstruction to occur quickly to prevent any further loss of life and economic devastation.

Currently 2 million people have been displaced from their homes and thousands of people have lost their lives, homes, livelihood and security as the conflict rages.

Our Ethiopian AE office has moved to the better security compound of outreach partner Kale Hiwot church as the nation’s capital Addis Ababa prepares to defend itself from Tigrayan rebel forces and Omono Liberation Army closing in.

Whilst we are physically unable to minister in the unstable northern region where the catalyst for conflict arose, we have sent out discipleship books to the thousand students in the region, and continue to minister and outreach as we can in the north western Metekel region.

We give thanks for:

*
The 15 vulnerable women trained in sewing/tailoring and who have graduated after 6 months. The students were exceedingly happy and are now ready to start their own businesses.
*
Support for the Student Discipleship program, within which we are educating, training and discipling approximately 18,000 students this year, even in the midst of conflict.
*
For our partnership with Kale Hiwot Church in outreach activities within the north and their care for our team.

Your prayers are appreciated for:

*
For our partnership with Kale Hiwot Church in outreach activities within the north and their care for our team.

*
Preservation of life and a cease to hostilities as soon as possible between government and rebel forces.
*
Resumption of church outreach activities in the northern area of Ethiopia.
*
For the country to quickly recover economically and socially from this destructive conflict, and for wise intervention by international peacekeepers.
*
For the successful business startup from the graduates of our inaugural development program in Ethiopia.
*
For safety and security of churches, youth and all those participating in AE’s discipleship program.
*
For wise decisions to be made by all those in leadership in Ethiopia to care for the people.
*
For AE, the church and local believers to be able to continue bringing God’s love and Hope to the people as well as practical help.
