When it comes to combating the effects of climate change, Democratic AGs have President Biden’s back.
Friend,
The fight to stop climate change is happening in our communities and around the world. In the past week, former President Obama and President Biden spoke at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, underscoring just how important climate action is for our planet.
In his speech, President Biden announced a plan to provide $3 billion annually to help developing countries and poor communities fight climate change, and laid out a vision of a zero emissions United States by 2050, where wind and solar energy power a nation of electric vehicles and carbon capture technology.
While the President is working on a plan to support a national and global strategy to fight climate change, Dem AGs are already hard at work protecting our environment and defending climate action.
Democratic AGs have been incredibly busy in recent months pushing for clean energy, safe drinking water, and safe air for our communities:
California AG Rob Bonta led a coalition of 16 Democratic AGs urging the Department of Energy to strengthen energy efficiency efforts on everything from lightbulbs to dishwashers. These tighter regulations could save billions of dollars in energy costs, and prevent millions of metric tons of greenhouse gas from being emitted annually.
Many Dem AGs, including North Carolina AG Josh Stein and Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul, are working to ensure that everyone has safe drinking water in their communities. Dem AGs across the country are investigating, suing, and fighting against polluters of dangerous chemicals, like PFAS, in our water.
Massachusetts AG Maura Healey joined the chorus of Democrats fighting for reforms at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to promote a more forward-looking, comprehensive approach to our energy transmission. This fight has massive impacts on communities already overburdened by environmental harm, and we could help build a green-energy future with these reforms in place.
When we talk about taking bold action to save our planet, this is what it looks like.
