[1]Real Justice
John,
Thank you for EVERYTHING you did in support of Real Justice in October.
We had a BUSY month, and this is a bit of a longer email than we usually
send, but we hope you reflect on all that we’ve done these last four weeks
with PRIDE.
[ [link removed] ]Please read the full thing. And when you’re done, if you want to pitch
in to our critical fights ahead — with so many of our elected DAs under
attack — you can do so here.
Here’s what your support helped make possible:
* We made 490,241 calls to San Francisco voters and reached thousands
more via digital ads against the dangerous recall of DA Chesa Boudin.
We helped reveal that Harry Stern — a lawyer who defended the cops who
killed Oscar Grant — is a donor to the recall. Extreme right wing
wealthy donors poured massive amounts of money into disinformation
campaigns against Chesa and we’ve been fighting back. Beyond these
incredibly important calls — with your help — we organized a
#StandwithChesa Social Media Day of Action which resulted in over
300,000 impressions.
* Meanwhile, DA Chesa Boudin has continued fighting ghost fun
manufacturers to keep those guns off the streets. California Attorney
General Rob Bonta joined his fight, and Chesa joined the Mothers of
Murdered Sons to remember all the lives needlessly lost to gun
violence.
* Nearly 120 DAs — including 7 DAs that you helped elect — delivered a
letter demanding that the Supreme Court block the Texas abortion ban.
As the Supreme Court continues to hear arguments in the case on
whether to uphold this ban, hearing from these DAs is so crucial. The
7 DAs who signed the letter understand the intersections of racial,
economic, and health justice. They know this ban is dangerous and
disproportionately harms Black and brown people who face larger
hurdles to accessing safe and affordable abortion.
* Our DAs also freed more innocent Black people and held murderous cops
accountable. New Orleans DA Jason Williams, a DA that you helped
elect, helped free Louis and Leroy — two Black men who had been in
prison for over 50 YEARS. Contra Costa County DA Diana Becton charged
a police officer for killing a man with mental health issues, which is
the first time EVER that a cop has been charged for a shooting in that
county.
* Finally, every single candidate — ALL NINE OF THEM — that we built
support for this year WON on Election Day. They include Larry Krasner,
Alvin Bragg, Ramin Fatehi, Stephanie Morales, Chelsa Wagner, Wrenna
Watson, Lisa Middleman, Nicola Henry-Taylor, and Tiffany Sizemore.
These are wins that YOU helped make possible,
John. With your help, we are
continuing to elect real change-makers to redefine our so-called ‘justice
system’.
And, we’re fighting to make sure that once they are elected, they can stay
in office and deliver on the change they promised.
Thank you for all that you did in the past month to continue supporting
the work of Real Justice. We’re so grateful to have you in this fight.
[ [link removed] ]Please pitch in again if you can afford it, so we can keep this good
work going.
With love and gratitude,
Real Justice
