John,

Today, I'm reaching out with a key update on last Tuesday’s elections – and how we can move forward together.
Election results are still coming in, but I’m thrilled to report that – thanks to your support – more than 130 Emerge alums won their races outright. Those wins included:

*44 of our first-time candidates
*55 of our women of color candidates
*16 of our LGBTQ+ candidates
*30 of our 44 & under candidates

Here’s what that means:

RUNNING THE RIGHT CANDIDATES FOR OUR COMMUNITIES&NBSP;

These victories confirm what we’ve known all along: All over the country, Democratic women of the New American Majority (NAM) are ready to lead – and voters are ready to elect them at every level of government. Virginia showed us that Democratic voters will not vote for just any Democratic candidate put before them. Voters need to feel connected to our candidates and trust their commitment to our communities.

Fortunately, that’s exactly where Emerge comes in – because we’re recruiting, training, and empowering candidates who represent voters’ real experiences, energize our movement, and push for meaningful policies that meet our communities’ needs.

MORE HISTORIC FIRSTS

Our alums continue to rack up historic firsts all over the country. This is both cause for celebration and a sober reminder of how far we have to go until our government truly looks like who we are as a country. Some firsts from this election include:

* Tania Anderson from Massachusetts – the first Muslim American and formerly undocumented person elected to the Boston City Council.

* Karimah Mickens from Connecticut – the first Black woman to serve as the Hamden Town Clerk.

* Cheryl Wink from Colorado – the first Black woman elected to the Englewood City Council, winning re-election and solidifying her place on the Council.

These women, all part of the New American Majority (NAM), represent a growing force in American politics. And Emerge will continue our steadfast commitment to reaching 100,000 NAM women by 2035.

PACKING THE POLITICAL PIPELINE

While we're proud that our Emerge candidates are the first NAM women elected in their seats, we're working hard to ensure they aren't the last. This is why we need your support to build long-term political transformation through our steadfast recruitment, our powerful programming, and our lift-as-you-climb culture – where Democratic women are lifting others up as they ascend to higher office.

Some of our alums who won key seats last week did so by moving up the pipeline from city council to mayor or from city office to the state legislature. And more Emerge alums have stepped up and won those vacant seats or are on track to do so. This is how we repower political structures to achieve deep, authentic representation and systemic results.

None of this progress is possible without the support of Founding Donors. John, can I count on you to join us in recruiting, training, and electing Democratic women? Your contributions directly enable our team to expand our programs and make the vital early investments we need to flip seats blue in 2022 and beyond. Donate here: [link removed]
On behalf of our entire team, thank you so much for your support. We're in this to win this – and the fight is far from over.

A'shanti F. Gholar
President, Emerge

Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are running up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities, such as the environment, accessible and affordable health care, social justice, and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support — that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women. If you’d like to donate, click here.
