Texans Reject CRT [[link removed]]




All over the country, parents are pushing back against Critical Race Theory (CRT). They are rejecting 'woke' progressives, and they're telling schools this racist ideology has no place in our children's classrooms.




We are seeing more and more parents choosing to homeschool their children due to COVID and CRT. In Texas, homeschooling has increased from about 3% in 2019 to 4.5% in the spring of 2020 to 12.3% in the fall.




In the Texas Senate, we passed legislation banning CRT from being taught in our schools three times this year. Finally, it passed in the Texas House and was signed by the Governor. I was not going to give up. Thanks to Senators Bryan Hughes and Brandon Creighton for their tireless work on the bill. A special thanks to Glynis Chester and Robbie Hull from the Texas Federation of Republican Women, and Pat Hardy from the State Board of Education. They made it a better bill and rallied support for final passage.




Democrats are simply out of touch with what parents want for their children's education. In the Virginia Governor's race, Democrat Terry McAuliffe said parents should have no role in school curriculum. We all know how that race went for him. Parents showed up to the polls in force to vote for Republican Glenn Youngkin, who actively disavowed CRT during his campaign.




Biden's Department of Justice has threatened to target parents speaking up at school board meetings, likening them to domestic terrorists. Threatening and intimidating parents for speaking against a poisonous ideology is despicable and goes directly against our country's founding principles of free speech.




Parents deserve to have a say in what their children are taught in school. In Texas, we banned Critical Race Theory from our public schools. Rest assured, we will always protect parents and ensure they continue to play a role in their children's education.
