Whether it is making it harder to vote or extreme partisan gerrymandering, we’ve seen GOP-led legislatures across the country use many tactics to drown out the voices of ordinary Americans this past year. 
 
Voters should choose their representatives — NOT the other way around. These efforts are diluting the right to vote and diminishing its power. The right to vote should not be a partisan issue. It is fundamental to our democracy, protects all of our other rights and is a tool to make sure that all people are given a say in our government.
 
But in states like Texas, Republicans know they’re increasingly out of touch with the majority of folks, so they’re using every tool at their disposal to protect their political power.
 
There is no issue more important than protecting our democracy and the right to vote, and I’m fighting alongside the NewDem caucus in Congress to stop the GOP’s assault on voting rights — but the ability to continue that work depends on maintaining our Democratic Majority in 2022.
