John,

As you read this, hundreds of teachers are on strike in Scranton, PA for
fair pay + affordable health care.

[ [link removed] ]If you’re able to, will you pitch in $5 or more to the American
Federation of Teachers’ Strike Solidarity Fund? Every dollar goes directly
to supporting the striking Scranton teachers and making sure they have
what they need to win a fair contract.

This morning, I had the deep honor of joining striking teachers + American
Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten on the picket line in
Scranton.

I’m proud to stand in *full* solidarity with the Scranton Federation of
Teachers, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting their efforts for a fair
contract so that they can get back to doing what they do best, which is
educating the students of Scranton.

For five years, the Scranton Federation of Teachers union has been unable
to reach an agreement with the district. As a result, teachers have been
working without a contract or raise since 2017.

The district wants to pay for raises for teachers by cutting back
healthcare benefits, which is unacceptable. Workers should not have to
choose between fair pay + affordable health care.

All work has dignity. Teaching is a sacred responsibility + vital
investment in our future. We must make teachers’ salaries both dignified
and reflective of their outsized contribution to PA.

to the Strike Solidarity Fund here through the American Federation of
Teachers (of which the Scranton Federation of Teachers is a local
chapter).

Unions are crucial to protecting the rights of workers, and we should
*always* protect and support them. Thanks for standing with our teachers.

In solidarity,

John
