Saturday General
Meeting Autoworkers vs. GM: Who Won?
This Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10am to
12pm, we’ll be having our monthly general meeting at Ant Hall in Hamtramck (2320 Caniff). We’ll be hosting a panel on the recent GM strike and UAW deal
with Jane Slaughter of Labor Notes and Dianne Feeley of the
Autoworkers Caravan. (To familiarize yourself with the issues ahead of
time, check out some stellar journalism from Dianne and Jane.)
We’ll also be sharing next steps
for our chapter’s DSA for Bernie campaign, discussing the
upcoming Medicare for All Town Hall with Dr. Abdul El-Sayed and Dr.
Victoria Dooley, and making a final push for Ferndale for
All.
#FerndaleforAll
It’s crunch time! Ferndale’s municipal elections are less
than a week away (on Tuesday, Nov. 5) and our candidates—Nada
Daher (Council) and Brian
Stawowy (Mayor)—really need your help.
Here’s our plan to win in
Ferndale:
- Wed./Thur., 5-7pm — Canvass
- Fri.,
5-8pm — Sticker Party
- Sat./Sun. — Deliver campaign literature
- Tue.,
Nov. 5, 7am–8pm, ELECTION DAY

This is not a time to sit on the
sidelines. It’s time to canvass your heart out—even if you don’t like
to canvass—and spread the gospel of affordable housing and a local
Green New Deal in Ferndale.
If we have a big turnout from DSA
this week we can achieve our goal of hitting every single door in
Ferndale and electing two badass open socialists to office.
Wow.
Friday evening the campaigns will
be prepping 10,000 pieces of literature with polling location details.
Saturday and Sunday they'll be dropping them off all over
Ferndale.
We need **all hands on
deck** for Election Day in Ferndale from 7 am to 8 pm on
Tuesday. The big day will end with a MASSIVE victory party at J's
Penalty Box at 22726 Woodward Ave, Ferndale.

Election day tasks include passing
out lit at polling locations, text banking, phone banking, doing
last-minute canvassing, and more.
Can't make it out in
person? Donate
to the campaigns to help cover last minute
expenses.
Medicare for All: Accept
Nothing Less with Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, Dr.
Victoria Dooley and Marjorie Mitchell
Detroit DSA and YDSA of OU are
hosting a Town
Hall on Medicare for All at Oakland University on Wednesday, Nov.
6 from 6–8 pm. Our panel of speakers will include the incomparable Dr.
Abdul El-Sayed, Dr. Victoria Dooley—who you may have seen introduce
Bernie Sanders on Sunday at Cass Tech—and lifelong healthcare activist
Marjorie Mitchell.
Whether you want to learn more or
engage directly in the discussion come join us to hear from activists,
experts, and healthcare providers.
You'll hear how we would implement
single-payer, how it would improve lives, and have a chance to ask us
any questions of your own.
In solidarity,
Natasha Fernández-Silber http://www.metrodetroitdsa.com/
