Dear John,
You can take a quick and important action today that could help permanently protect the Boundary Waters from destructive sulfide-ore copper mining.
Everyone, not just Minnesotans, must participate in this comment period. Your input is critical to permanently protecting America’s most visited Wilderness.
We’ve made it very easy: please submit your comment to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources asking them to protect the Wilderness. You should do this even if you don’t live in Minnesota! Today marks the start of an official 30-day public comment period. You can comment on Minnesota's current rules that allow copper mining in the Boundary Waters watershed and fail to protect this pristine world-class wilderness.
We initiated this process by filing a first-of-its kind lawsuit under the Minnesota Environmental Rights Act. It's a very important opportunity for the Boundary Waters because the review could result in a prohibition of sulfide-ore copper mining in the headwaters of the Wilderness.
Thank you for your tireless advocacy for this wild and beautiful place,
Tom Landwehr, Vice Chair of the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters
After you take action, you can RSVP to a special webinar TONIGHT to hear directly from me about this important strategy for protecting the Boundary Waters.
P.S. Today, a comment period has begun to revisit the current Minnesota mining rules, which fail to protect the Boundary Waters from destruction. Make your comment now and share this with others. Please take this action even if you don’t live in Minnesota!
