When Laura first ran for office, she promised to rebuild our state's economy, fund our schools, create new jobs, and address Kansas' high food tax. She's already accomplished the first three, and now, Laura's delivering on the fourth part of that promise.

This week Laura announced her plan to Axe the Food Tax -- without diverting resources from other state services or agencies.

This isn't a partial reduction, it's not a rebate: Laura is committed to completely eliminating the 6.5% state tax on our food.

For too long, Kansans have been paying more for groceries than people in almost every other state, but under Laura's plan to end the food tax, we'll be able to put money back into the pockets of everyday Kansans. On average, a family of four will save up to $500 a year on their grocery bills. That's extra money to go toward gas, school supplies, or bills. It's money that will make a difference.
