Update: All-Electric Building Act Introduced!

On November 1, Senator Kavanagh and Assemblymember Gallagher announced the introduction of the All-Electric Building Act, which is part of Renewable Heat Now's legislative package.

This bill would help end fossil fuel expansion by banning fossil fuel systems in most new buildings beginning in 2024. If passed, the bill would make New York the first state in the country to enact a statewide all-electric code for new buildings!

Read this press release for the inspiring statements from the Renewable Heat Now campaign and our allies, and coverage in The City and the Brooklyn Eagle for more information.

On November 1, Renewable Heat Now campaign members from Alliance for a Green Economy, Food and Water Watch, Mothers Out Front, NY-GEO, and Sane Energy joined bill sponsors Sen. Kavanagh and AM Gallagher, the No North Brooklyn Pipeline Coalition, and WE ACT for Environmental Justice for a press conference at New York City Hall calling for the enactment of the All-Electric Building Act

Act Today: Sign the Building Electrification Equity Petition to Gov. Hochul

The momentum for building electrification is growing in New York! A few weeks ago, we helped organize over 200 organizations to send a letter to Governor Hochul calling on her to electrify at least 2 million homes by 2030, with at least half of those homes representing new and existing affordable housing in disadvantaged communities. The letter calls for a Green Affordable Housing Fund to equitably fund this transition and for changes to building codes and utilities regulations to support rapid building electrification. Please sign the petition today

Tell Gov. Hochul We Want Affordable Green Buildings Today!
Together, we can ensure New York meets its climate targets in a way that ensures everyone has a safe, warm, healthy home!

In solidarity,

The AGREE team

Reminder: RSVP today for the Virtual Town Hall on 11/18 at 1pm to learn more and get involved in our legislative fight to get fossil fuels out of our buildings!
