This is your call to reorganization for the 2022 AYD Executive Committee

We will be electing our new executive board for the 2022 calendar year. Positions that are open for election are as follows and elections will be held in the following order:

You must include your name, email, and personal statement. Only dues paying members ahead of the deadline can apply. Applications will close at Tuesday November 16, 2021 at 7PM (24 hours prior to the reorganization meeting).
If your dues have lapsed ahead of that, you will need to resubmit your membership. All applicants will be checked and alerted if their dues have not been paid ahead of the November 17, 2021 meeting.
Ballots for contested races shall be distributed in person to all voting members of Arlington Young Democrats after the conclusion of each deliberation. Voting shall take place over the course of the meeting. Those not in attendance when ballots are handed out or did not request an absentee ballot cannot vote in those elections. Winners shall be announced at the meeting and via email the next day. Vote totals shall not be announced, but any unsuccessful candidate shall be entitled to request and obtain the vote totals for their race.
If you cannot attend the meeting but still wish to vote, you may vote for an absentee ballot. Applications will close will close on Tuesday November 16, 2021 at 7PM (24 hours prior to the election).

If your dues have lapsed before November 17, 2021 at 7PM, you will not be able to vote in any of the elections. You will be able to re-up your dues prior to that if you so choose. You can pay your dues here.
Entitlement of every attendee to obtain ballots and to vote in the AYD E-Board elections shall be confirmed by the President, Vice President, and Membership Director prior to the commencement of the election procedures; any person deemed ineligible will not receive a ballot. Voting shall be open to any dues paying member of the Arlington Young Democrats who is in attendance or requested an absentee ballot before November 16th at 7:00PM.
Floor nominations shall only be allowed for any race that does not have 1 candidate who applied by the deadline.
For each election, each candidate will have TWO MINUTES to speak, with the exception of candidates for President, who will have THREE MINUTES.
Order of speaking in each race will be determined by numbers drawn using a random number generator, unless the candidates agree on the order of speaking amongst themselves. For unopposed races, the sole candidate may choose to proceed with their speech or decline to speak, at the candidate’s sole discretion. Upon motion, voting in unopposed races may occur by acclimation.
Immediately following the speeches for each race, members in the meeting room will be permitted to ask questions of any or all of the candidates for up to THREE MINUTES. Candidate answers shall be limited to THIRTY SECONDS each.
Immediately following the Q&A period, all candidates shall leave the room and a public deliberation lasting no longer than FIVE MINUTES shall occur, following which all verified dues-paying members shall vote by submission of secret ballot.
All Executive board members will be sworn in and start their terms on December 18 at the AYD Holiday Brunch.
ADDITIONALLY. Please note that the Arlington Democratic Committee is having their re-organization meeting on January 5, 2022 and all AYD dues paying members who have paid their dues prior to November 15, 2021 can vote without having to pay a fee. If you are a Democrat under the age 35 and live in Arlington County, you can be an AYD dues paying member which will give you the ability to vote for the new Arlington Young Democrats Leadership AND the new Arlington Democrats Leadership.
