Councillors visit Emmanuel House homeless shelter
emmanuel house

*The local Councillors visited Emmanuel House in October, to see how the funds they had allocated from the ward delegated budget was being used by the project. The Councillors spoke to volunteers working to make tasty hot meals for people experiencing homelessness, and saw the open access IT space, where welfare advice and support is given to help people get off the street.*

In addition, they saw the sorting room where clothing and other donations are processed for the Emmanuel House charity shop - which is currently accepting donations. [ [link removed] ]

Improvements to the Park Tunnel

opark

*Your local Councillors have used some of their Castle Ward Councillor budget to fund heritage stone works at Park Tunnel, which will prevent pigeons from roosting on the ledges.*

This will help to preserve the listed structure and make walking through the tunnel more pleasant!

The Councillors are also working with city council teams to encourage the owners of the neighbouring building to clean the graffiti along the far end of the tunnel.

*On 29 October, your local Councillors were glad to visit the team at Notts LGBT+ Network, which is based in Castle Ward. *

The Councillors learnt a great deal about the charity, their volunteers and all the important work they do right across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. There were also lots of ideas about how the Councillors could work more closely with the Network in future.

Don't get caught out this Christmas

Nottingham City Council’s Trading Standards team are asking Nottingham residents to be careful when buying presents for children:

* *Look for the CE or UKCA mark:* These symbols on the label or box mean the manufacturer has assessed the toy for safety
* *Button-batteries can kill:*  Check they are screwed in firmly and safely before giving to a child
* *Check age restrictions:* Toys must be clearly marked with age restrictions - always follow them, they’re there for a reason
