The Young Democrats of South Carolina would like to ask you all to help us out and partner with us as we help Haiti.

Hello John-

The Young Democrats of South Carolina would like to ask you all to help us out and partner with us as we help Haiti.

The Covid-19 Pandemic has made it a challenging year for everyone, particularly for our neighbors who were already in compromised situations of unemployment, underemployment, illness, and economic injustice. In addition, and on top of all of those obstacles, many people were threatened with natural disasters that in the best of times would challenge the resources of local governments to mitigate. Such is the current situation on the island of Haiti.

Haiti has a special, historical and spiritual connection to the city of Charleston stretching back to before the United States became an independent nation. Many of us have a shared ancestor and many more share a cultural connection to dark periods as our nation struggles to become the best version of its principles and values.

Today, the people of Haiti need our help, as they must not only meet the challenge of a global pandemic but the aftermath of violent natural disasters.

That is why we are appealing to you to support our response of love and a helping hand through the Haitian Red Cross. Our efforts will be used to collect resources necessary to support the Red Cross relief, support and restoration efforts.
