Hi Friend,
In this past week alone, I’ve experienced firsthand the negative effects of inflation, supply chain, and labor market shortages.
Just a few examples:
I could not find Halloween candy or supplies anywhere leading up to the beloved holiday. I seem to not be alone in this. A friend’s neighbor (a professional athlete, mind-you) handed out Christmas candy on Halloween.
When I went to grab coffee at a popular local chain, there was no barista present. Other staffers had to scramble to try to fulfill basic coffee orders... like a coffee with milk and a latte.
Almost every store was out of basic supplies and had long check-out lines due to staff shortages. Friends and family have told me they’ve had trouble finding diapers lately.
It recently cost nearly $4/gallon to fill up my tank. I’ve heard from others that theirs cost over $4/gallon.
I had trouble finding an Uber or Lyft driver yesterday. Due to skyrocketing demand and limited supply of drivers, prices were surging… and there was no guarantee I’d get a ride. A short 13-minute ride cost over $30, and I had to agree to accept the charge even if I did not get a ride.
This is a triple threat to our economic health and financial well-being… and it is expected to only get worse.
I know I’m not alone in this. Have you had similar experiences lately… from rising costs to supply shortages to labor market issues?
