Week of November 8, 2021

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Apply to be on Nominations Committee!

The end of the year is upon us and with that... elections for chapter leaders! The first step on our chapter’s election journey is to set up our Nomination Committee (NomCom). You should apply today!

What is Nominations Committee? - It is a three person body tasked with independently organizing, managing, and tabulating the elections for the Steering Committee, Branch Coordinators, and Subgroup Officers. If more than 3 people apply, there will be a runoff election.

Being on the Nomination Committee disqualifies you from running in any chapter elections this year. This helps us ensure a degree of impartiality and neutrality in the races.

Schedule:

  • November 6: Open NomCom Nominations
  • November 11 at 11:59 PM: NomCom nomination deadline
  • If needed: November 12: Ballots for NomCom vote open and sent
  • If needed: November 15 at 11:59 PM: Ballots for NomCom vote close
  • November 16: Announce NomCom and convene committee (Results will be announced sooner if a vote is not needed.)

What type of commitment are we talking about? - Once selected, NomCom will convene to run elections from mid-November to January. This includes finalizing a timeline, sending information to members, accepting nominations, hosting a candidate forum, and sending out ballots. You can rely on the support of a liaison from Steering Committee who will give as much help as you request. Please consider your availability and expect to spend about 1-3 hours a week on this work.

Running for NomCom is a great opportunity to help out the chapter finish strong this year if you don’t plan to run for an officer position! Sign up HERE!
