My name is Pam Campos-Palma — I’m the proud daughter of Central American immigrants, a war veteran, and have dedicated myself to organizing for a more humane, equitable, and demilitarized world. And as Director of Peace and Security at the Working Families Party, I created Vets for The People to organize veterans who are committed to justice, freedom, and change.
No matter where we’re from, or what we look like, most of us want to be seen for who we are and see that our communities thrive. But for too long, certain corporate politicians and white-nationalists have tried to control the narratives of the military and veteran community, attempting to force us into reductive stereotypes that serve their own corrupt agendas and divide us from one another.
Across the U.S., military veterans like myself are changing the narrative and refusing to let a corrupt few use us to stoke more violence, destruction, and warring.
At Vets for the People, we are building a political home within the Working Families party where veterans are seen as partners and comrades, not just political props.
