Welcome to the October edition of the Southside newsletter, keeping you up to date with the latest developments in the Broadmarsh area and other major redevelopments in Nottingham.

Tower crane arrives at intu Broadmarsh

Good progress continues to be made on the86 million redevelopment ofintu Broadmarsh. Collin Street was closed in mid-October to allow installation of a tower crane to support and advance the demolition and construction of the new leisure and retail centre. The crane installation went well, and you can read more about it in our behind the scenes blog. [ [link removed] ] The upper floors of intu Broadmarsh are now closed and demolition works have begun, with hoardings around the centre to allow works to take place and keep customers safe. Temporary protective structures have been installed at Lister Gate Square to prepare for the start of construction of a new transparent roof.

New Broadmarsh Car Park & Bus Station

The first crane has arrived on the Broadmarsh Car Park development site, with the steel frame reaching its full height this week, giving a preview of the new landscape in the Broadmarsh area. The new building will be built in sections, each to its full seven storey height, before moving on to the next section. In the coming weeks, two more cranes will arrive, each building their own section. Consultation is ongoing with key stakeholders for the future Central Library to establish the needs of future users of a modern library.

Nottingham College City Hub on course for Autumn 2020 opening

Since a topping out ceremony in mid-July, work has steadily progressed at the City Hub, which remains on target for an Autumn 2020 opening. Since the work to construct the frame has been completed, the workforce at the City Hub has increased from 80 staff on site to 150, with work underway on the internal mechanical and electrical works and some external work, including windows being installed.

Gordon House Refurbishment

Nottingham City Councils Townscape Heritage Scheme is celebrating the start of work on its largest grant-funded project to date.Just over 212,000 has been awarded by Nottingham City Council from the Scheme fund, which will go towards repairs to the frontage of Gordon House on Carrington Street.
