A worker dies every 30 seconds from exposure to toxic industrial chemicals, pesticides, and dust.

Friend,

How toxic are our clothes?

Last week, we revealed how retailers rank on toxic chemicals in the clothing they sell.

This week, we share how popular clothing brands rank on chemical use in our new Toxic Textiles Brands scorecard!

We compared the efforts to address toxic chemicals in clothing by 10 leading US apparel companies, including adidas, Gap, Forever 21, and Carter's.

The good news? Brands are making progress and showing that it is feasible to meet the demands of our campaign. BUT, more progress is needed!

It's important to remember even if a company has a strong chemical management policy that does NOT mean the brand is sustainable. For example, it is not possible for fast fashion brands, like H&M or Zara, to be sustainable due to the sheer volume of resources wasted.

While there is still no way for us to shop our way to sustainability, there are many ways to shop with the planet and workers in mind.

We hope our new Toxic Textiles Brands scorecard is a useful resource as we head into the holiday season.

Thank you for all that you do,
