John,

This past Friday, the House of Representatives passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill and pushed the Build Back Better Act for a vote in the next few weeks.

Unfortunately, the bipartisan infrastructure bill only provides $15 billion for lead pipe replacement across the country. This is nowhere near the level of federal investment needed to get lead out of our water.

We need our members of Congress to ensure that everyone has access to safe, clean water by providing at least an additional $10 billion in grants to remove lead pipes and address water contamination as part of the Build Back Better Act.

Send your message now: Tell Congress to ensure full funding in the Build Back Better Act to protect our water from lead.

John,

There’s a lot at stake in the fight for clean water this week.

Congress is currently finalizing the budget and infrastructure bills — legislation that will determine whether school districts and water systems receive the funding they need to get lead out of our water.

As it stands, the Senate has passed an infrastructure bill that provides $15 billion for lead pipe replacement, and the House has designated an additional $10 billion to remove lead pipes and address water contamination at schools as part of the Build Back Better Act. We need our legislators to make sure this additional funding survives in the final package — but we don’t have much time!

John, urge your members of Congress to fix our aging water systems and ensure that everyone has access to safe, clean water by keeping lead funding in the Build Back Better Act!

A recent study found that more than half of young children have detectable levels of lead in their blood. Lead is damaging to developing brains.

No amount of lead is safe. These findings should raise alarms and drive members of Congress to action. We need proper federal investment in our public water infrastructure to keep lead out — to protect our children, prioritize our communities and ensure clean water for all.

Tell Congress: We can’t compromise on safe water!

Get Lead Out of Our Water!

The urgency is real: Senate conservatives are seeking to gut important environmental and health provisions in the Build Back Better Act. But our legislators must not compromise on the safety of our water. People across the country deserve a real solution to this public health threat.

We shouldn't have to worry about whether the water in our homes and schools is safe to drink. Every community and every person needs safe, lead-free drinking water. Access to clean water is our most basic human right.

Send your message now: Tell Congress to ensure full funding to protect our water from lead in the Build Back Better Act.
