John -

Google just announced they're banning all ads containing false claims about climate change.[1]

This is HUGE. It means websites and YouTube creators can no longer make money from displaying ads full of climate lies. It also means Big Oil can no longer pay ridiculous amounts of money to spread their greenwashing propaganda on Google's platforms.

But it's not enough. As one of the world's biggest advertising platforms, we're now turning our focus to Facebook. Because if Google can ban climate deception, so can Mark Zuckerberg.

Add your name: Join us in demanding an end to fossil fuel ads on Facebook today. [[link removed]

Here's the truth, John: Despite causing climate breakdown and jeopardizing our future for decades, companies like BP, Shell, Exxon, and Chevron continue to dig up and burn fossil fuels.[2] And yet, they are propped up by the support they receive from governments, banks, and other institutions.

But they have a weakness.

Fossil fuel companies rely on publicity campaigns to make themselves look conscionable. That is why they spend millions of dollars on false Facebook advertising every year.[3]

We are calling on Facebook to stop lending credibility to climate-wrecking fossil fuel companies on their site. Are you with us?

The ads by fossil fuel companies often promote their efforts to move their business towards renewable and clean energy sources, yet reports show that top oil and gas companies jointly spent only around 1 percent of their budgets on clean energy last year.[4]

The fossil fuel industry is putting our future at risk, and it's time Facebook stopped supporting them.

Facebook’s policies already prohibit adverts promoting tobacco and other unsafe or destructive products. The fossil fuels that are risking our future should, without a doubt, be in that same category.

Will you join our movement and demand that Facebook stop amplifying the fossil fuel industry’s disinformation campaigns? [[link removed]

Thank you for being with us in this fight for a livable climate,

- Team 350
