News from Representative Allred

November 8, 2021

Dear Friend,

I was born and raised right here in North Texas, and over the course of my life, I’ve watched our region grow and thrive. It’s no secret that North Texas is a great place to live and raise a family, but our infrastructure has not kept up with our region’s rapid population growth. That’s why I was proud to help pass the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will address our region’s aging infrastructure, reduce congestion, create good jobs for North Texans and boost our local economy.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will:
  • Create 650,000 new jobs by the middle of the decade, according to a Moody’s Analytics report;
  • Repair and improve Texas highways and bridges, with $26.9 billion for highways and $537 million for bridges;
  • Improve and strengthen DART with a historic investment in public transit;
  • Invest more than $1 billion to help improve Texas airports;
  • Expand our state’s electric vehicle charging system;
  • Upgrade Texas’ port infrastructure with a nationwide investment in our ports
  • Expand access to reliable internet and help more than 8 million Texans afford high-speed internet, while strengthening cybersecurity.
As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I have been working with both parties to pass a major infrastructure bill since I was first sworn in. I hosted Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg earlier this year in Dallas to showcase how important an infrastructure investment would be to economic growth in North Texas. I am proud that after all our hard work, both sides finally came together to deliver this overdue infrastructure investment for the American people.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will soon be signed into law by President Biden, putting Texans to work and growing our state’s economy. Coupled with the Build Back Better Act --which I am continuing to do all I can to help pass-- this will be the most transformative investment in the middle class since President Johnson’s Great Society and will help more North Texans chase their version of the American dream. It’s why I have been working hard to get it done. It’s an honor to serve North Texas, where I was born and raised.

Sincerely,
