Dear John:

We've got great ways to connect with Support, Education, and Advocacy this week. Be sure to check them out below. Also - the PFLAG National offices are closed on Thursday in honor of Veteran's Day, but we'll still be STTA Live with very special guests Col. (ret.) Patsy Thompson and her wife Barbara Brass, subjects of the documentary Surviving the Silence. We're honored to have them join us!

Today is Intersex Day of Solidarity. Check out some resources on how to be a great Intersex ally today and beyond:

  1. Learn: Learn about Intersex Day of Solidarity and some actions that are being taken around the world today. Check out InterACT Advocates to learn more about the Intersex community and some of the advocacy that takes place every day.
  2. Watch: Watch the October 21st episode of Something To Talk About Live! featuring Intersex advocates Ori and Kristina Turner. Also take a look at What The +?: Understanding and Supporting Expansive LGBTQ+ Identities
  3. Share: Follow Intersex organizations like InterACT and Intersex Justice Project on social media, and use hashtag #4intersex. Take a look at some graphics from InterACT that you can use to frame your messages on social media.

Advocacy

Have you visited the pflag.org Advocacy hub?

We have so much work to get done, from passing federal nondiscrimination protections to ending conversion therapy and more. It's a great time to check out the new Advocacy hub on the PFLAG National website! Stay in-the-know and up-to-date when it comes to using your voice as a PFLAG National member or supporter.

This site replaces our older publication, ONE VOICE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD, allowing us to keep the content fresh and focused on the work at hand. Whether it’s learning more about the legislation we’re pushing for (or fighting against), resources, toolkits, and templates to assist in your advocacy or teach you about lobbying, or quick links that make it easy to take action on current pieces of legislation that will create equity and protections for LGBTQ+ people and their families, these pages will meet you where you are to better support your efforts at all levels. Check it all out now at pflag.org/advocacy!

Something to Talk About...Live!

We'll be joined by two special guests: Retired Colonel Patsy Thomson and Barbara Brass, whose story is featured in the documentary Surviving the Silence.

You can watch live on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, or Twitter.
