Hello John,

Earlier this year, our Bay Area Housing Internship Program (BAHIP) Year 3 cohort officially completed their program and I could not be more proud!

You can check out all their incredible achievements and how the program year went in our colorful summary!

Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, these dedicated interns persevered, lifting each other up and continuing to learn the skills needed (in a remote work environment) to kick start a rewarding career in affordable housing development. (View their work portfolios for more on the kinds of skills they gained!)

These interns, who represent diverse backgrounds and personal circumstances, rose to the challenge.

Psst, it’s colorful with lots of pictures!

They have inspired all of us at NPH along with our members and partners, invigorating us with a renewed drive toward our collective mission of housing and racial justice in the Bay Area and California.

Many of them have already been placed in full-time positions at their host agency, and others are pursuing other opportunities in the field. We look forward to continuing to witness their growth and what the future holds!

BAHIP: Advancing Racial Equity and Inclusion in Our Industry

Each year, BAHIP helps address a critically needed shift in our industry -- more diverse voices, more leaders of color, and more housers whose personal background reflects the communities that we serve.

A one-year, paid internship program, BAHIP’s goal is to help diversify the Bay Area’s affordable housing field by recruiting college students from low-income communities and communities of color into careers in affordable housing development and project management.

With the recent completion of BAHIP’s Year 3, we’ve placed over half of our graduates in full-time permanent positions at leading housing agencies.

Are you interested in becoming a host agency? Look out next month for an email with more details and how to apply!

Onward,
