In 2018, VoteVets filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration. And we have an important update for you on the case:

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs just acknowledged Trump’s cronies had “unusually pervasive access” to top officials at the VA and said they appreciated VoteVets for raising the issue!

Here’s what happened:

Shortly after his election, Donald Trump installed three members of Mar-a-Lago as shadow rulers of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

They had no background with veterans’ health care or houselessness or job training. They just belonged to Trump’s club. And they started making choices that impacted the well-being of veterans. In one instance, they even discussed a “hugely profitable plan” to monetize the VA patient database, suggesting that Johnson & Johnson, Apple and CVS could profit from access to the VA’s electronic medical records.

So we sued. The Mar-a-Lago Council was a poster child for the kind of pervasive corruption throughout the Trump administration, and had we not stepped in, the undue influence of Donald Trump’s clubhouse friends could have hurt our veterans in a lot of other ways. We also have sent the message that no future administration should try this again. Let qualified people, who understand the needs of our veterans, run the VA.

We are continuing our fight to hold all of Trump’s friends accountable, both in the courtroom and at the ballot box.

This has been a long battle, but we delivered for veterans. We’re proud of all we accomplished here, and hope you are too.
