John,
Last year, Cori shocked the establishment and defeated a 20-year incumbent to become the first Black woman to represent Missouri in Congress and the first activist from the movement in defense of Black lives to be elected to federal office.
And since her first day in Congress, Cori has worked to bring St. Louis change that everyone can feel by leading the fight for progressive policy priorities that save lives — including environmental justice, transforming our criminal-legal system, and safe housing for all.
John, in exactly one year, St. Louis will vote in the 2022 general election. We need to make sure that Cori's name will be on the ballot again on November 8, 2022 — and we can't take anything for granted. Cori won last year's primary election by 3 points, so the work to build a grassroots movement to re-elect Cori starts NOW.
That's why we've set a 24-hour emergency goal to raise $2,022 to keep Cori in Congress and power her legislating and organizing work. If you're with Cori in this movement, chip in $5 or more before midnight tonight. Your gift will go directly to re-electing Cori.
Cori has accomplished more in 11 months than some members do in decades. From introducing the Green New Deal for Cities with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to the People's Response Act to transform our public safety system and the Keeping Renters Safe Act to keep folks housed — Cori hasn't wasted any time legislating for the progressive policies everyday people need.
But not everyone is happy Cori is making good trouble in Congress. The far-right has already made Cori a top target of their attacks in an effort to hold on to their power. And we have to be prepared for less-than-progressive primary challengers to pour millions into attack ads to try and defeat us next year.
To win, we'll need to go dollar-for-dollar with any opponent that jumps in this race. That's where you come in, John. Please, will you chip in $5 or more to re-elect Cori and hit tonight's emergency $2,022 goal?
In solidarity,
Team Cori
