Because of your past support of Democratic candidates and causes, we think you will be interested in learning more about Alisha Shelton’s history-making race in Nebraska. She’s running in a red district that voted for Joe Biden in 2020, making this one of the most flippable districts in the country. Read more about the race here ([link removed]).

DO YOU BELIEVE THE SENATE SHOULD PASS THE JOHN LEWIS VOTING RIGHTS ADVANCEMENT ACT?

NOT SURE ([link removed])
John,
In 1965, Congress passed the Voting Rights Act, historic legislation that restored the right to vote to thousands of African Americans. That’s right — as recently as 56 years ago, in many places in this country, Black folks were unable to exercise their right to vote, and here I am running to be Nebraska’s first African American Congresswoman.
But frankly, over the past 56 years, we’ve seen the Voting Rights Act stripped of most of its power. Even though my opponent Don Bacon voted against the bill, Democrats in Congress passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. The Act would restore and expand critical provisions of the Voting Rights Act and ensure that African Americans in the 21st century are afforded the protections guaranteed by the original legislation. Now, it’s up to the Senate to act.
We must show the Senate that there is massive grassroots support for this crucial legislation. Will you sign my petition now so that we can send a strong message of support for this historic bill today?

Thanks for making your voice heard,
Alisha
