Dear John,

I arrived in Glasgow for COP26 last week, from my home country of Kenya, where over 2 million people face hunger due to a devastating drought. For so many of us, being here in Glasgow is deeply personal. The climate crisis is here now, and it’s our family, friends, and neighbors whose lives and livelihoods are at risk. That’s why the stakes could not be higher for this COP.

The good news is we have seen some notable progress to ramp up climate action in the first week. I was especially encouraged to see bold commitments from countries to end deforestation, reduce methane emissions, and phase out overseas financing of coal projects. But we still need to see more results, more climate finance, and greater action on adaptation in the coming days.

The big question now is: Will countries, cities, and businesses translate their talk into near-term action? WRI is laser-focused on working with policymakers and partners to turn these commitments into reality in a just and equitable way. But to do this critical work, we need your support

that the U.S. joined the High-Level Ocean Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy, for which WRI is the secretariat. Donors like you make this vital work possible.

John, I hope you will stand with us at this critical time. COP26 has shown us that progress is possible – but much more is needed. Will you join fellow supporters by donating today?

Your gift today will help us ensure the momentum from COP26 translates into meaningful action to slow the climate crisis, enhance resilience, and improve people’s lives.

With gratitude,
