Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

This week, I remained in Washington, D.C. for votes in the U.S. House of Representatives. As you likely heard, Democrats forced a vote on their so-called infrastructure bill. While our nation is in need of infrastructure improvements to our roads, bridges, highways, railways, power, and water systems, the bill simply missed the mark. The spending in the bill is not paid for and adds to our national debt, plus only a low percentage of the bill is actually spent on real infrastructure needs. Amid increased inflation and economic conditions that are threatening the pocketbooks of American families, we cannot be spending so recklessly.

Democrats also continued to push through their radical tax and spending spree package. I am opposed to this multi-trillion-dollar plan.

Legislative Update

This week, I introduced a resolution condemning the Biden Administration for incentivizing illegal immigration by compensating individuals who cross the southern border illegally. It is unconscionable that the Biden Administration wants to give $450,000 to immigrants who illegally crossed our border. This is a slap in the face to law-abiding U.S. citizens and individuals who enter our nation legally and adhere to our laws! Watch my full remarks on this issue below.

GET THE FACTS: Biden’s Authoritarian Vaccine Mandate

President Biden’s latest authoritarian vaccine mandate for 100 million American workers is outrageous! By imposing this overbearing mandate, the government will burden job creators, cause more workers to lose their livelihoods, and worsen the supply chain crisis. Arizonans should not be forced to choose between putting food on the table for their families and receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

Encouraging Story

I am pleased to share this story about an Arizona State University graduate helping those who are less fortunate. Phoenix Rescue Mission Director of Community Engagement, Jussane Goodman, manages numerous programs, including criminal justice outreach, Glendale Works, Hope for Hunger Food Bank, mobile pantries, community market, and Hope Coach Street Outreach. Keep up the great work!

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office seeking assistance with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management after her father passed away and she was unable to get his remaining civil service retirement check from OPM. After our office contacted OPM and opened an inquiry, they issued the constituent the payment.

Mobile Office Hours

Our office is hosting mobile office hours on November 15, 2021, at the Goodyear Library Community Room from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM AZ time. Our casework team is ready to answer your questions and assist you if you are having issues with a federal agency.
