"A frantic warning from 100 leading experts: Our democracy is in grave danger."

Earlier this year, 100 experts on democracy and democratic breakdowns signed an open letter stating that "our entire democracy is now at risk" due to then-expected Republican gerrymandering, voter suppression, and attempts to take over election processes.

A few months later, GOP gerrymandering isn't just an expectation, it's a reality. And 33 voter suppression laws have been signed in 19 states in 2021!

The democracy experts say it's essential to pass national voting and fair election standards -- which is exactly what we're doing by supporting the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. On top of that, we're on the ground in a number of battleground states doing everything we can to block Republican gerrymanders and mobilize citizens in defense of democracy.

President Obama believes we can win. He said that "with focus, persistence, and, yes, a little bit of hope, I know we can put power back in the hands of the people." But it's going to take all of us, John -- and we have to act soon.
