Sweet success for Growth Hub client
When we're not working directly to support businesses in Nottingham, we often point the camera at them to capture the stories they want to share with other local business like yours.
The Treat Kitchen are a short walk from the city centre and Jess and Martin invited us over to find out more about what inspires them, their growth, CSR and even a few sweet accolades.
Watch our video here and if you're in the food & drink sector and also want to tap into the support the D2N2 Growth Hub can offer, email Ashreen Seethal.

We are pleased to invite you to a showcase of Enterprising Activity at NTU. Hear from entrepreneurs, enterprise advisers, project managers and strategists as they present the entrepreneurial journeys they have been following over the last 18 months and will be in the future.
The focus of the showcase is around the highly successful NTU Santander Spark Project from beginning to end; how it was conceived, delivered and the results it achieved; the marketing, student engagement and workshop activities which saw a 400% over-achievement of engagement targets. Meet, listen to and chat with some of those who participated, enjoy the photos and video that captured them in action.
The programme will run at pace and has been designed for maximum learning in the shortest possible time. There’s something here for anyone involved in the funding, design, marketing, delivering, managing or developing strategies around student enterprise and entrepreneurial activities.
There will be time to network - chatting to entrepreneurs and visiting their stands, meeting the advisers and programme managers, as well as the Santander people before, during and after the formal programme.

Working with us: becoming a supplier to the University of Nottingham
Tuesday 19 November 5 to 7pm
Thursday 21 November 8 to 10am
The University of Nottingham spends approximately £168m per annum on procurement activity across goods and services. It’s a massive market for any business, but there’s still a misconception that only big brands can compete for this work.
In recent years there’s been a drive for public sector organisations to award contracts of all sizes to smaller firms. That is why we are taking a moment for self-reflection and are asking with so much work on the line, why do small businesses sometimes still feel like they can’t compete?
This November, we will be hosting two events designed to enable the local business community to find out more about becoming a supplier to the University of Nottingham. Featuring Julia Fancourt, Director of Procurement Transformation at the University and her colleague Sam Welch, Procurement Transformation Manager, we’ll be covering all aspects of the process, including the opportunities, the process and key contacts.
Nottingham Tabletop Industry Collective
The Nottingham Tabletop Industry Collective is a group that was started to bring together the many, many people in Nottingham who work in the tabletop games industry. Our policy is very open, and we don't refuse membership - if you work, or want to work, in or around the field of tabletop games, you're welcome to join!
We have two main get-togethers:
The Tabletop Industry Breakfast, which happens like clockwork on the first Wednesday of the month, and always takes place from 8:30am at the Roebuck Inn on St James' Street. It tends to run until about 11am.
The Tabletop Industry Social, which intentionally doesn't have a fixed date or venue, but generally happens around the third week in the month. There's a pinned tweet here which shows the next couple of dates. The industry social starts at 7pm and usually runs until closing time.
"Tabletop games" is a very broad term, but we generally include board games, card games, role-playing games, strategy games, miniatures games, war-games, hobby games and anything else that you play for fun around a table.

Sustainable transport options
Enterprise Car Club presents businesses with a bespoke travel solution that can be configured in a number of different ways. Staff can be given access to an expansive network of 1,400+ vehicles across Nottingham and the UK. This range of electric, hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles are parked on-street, at transport hubs (like train stations) or at Enterprise Rent-A-Car branches. Accessible 24/7/365 via a smart phone app these cars and vans can be booked and unlocked in advance or on the go. Alternatively, businesses can arrange for dedicated vehicles to be installed at offices for the exclusive staff use.
The advantages to using the Car Club are wide ranging, not only are cost savings made by reducing taxi, millage reimbursement and pool fleet spend, but the ‘duty of care’ liability is mitigated, reducing the risks associated with personal vehicles being used for business travel.
