Friend,
Yesterday, the House voted to pass a
massive, once-in-a-generation investment in our nation's
infrastructure that will create millions of jobs, help to address the
climate crisis, and put us on a path to a brighter future for the next
generation of Americans.
It is, in the words of President
Biden, a "big f***ing deal."
But while there's been a lot of talk
about the politics of this legislation, that pales in comparison to
the good this legislation will do for working families not just by
creating good union jobs, but by: - Replacing lead water pipes so that every person and child
has access to clean, safe drinking water; - Investing in our roads, bridges, public
transportation, ports, airports, and freight rail; - Growing our clean energy supply chains by
manufacturing solar panels, wind farms, batteries, and electric
vehicles that we can export to the world; - Building out a coast-to-coast network of
charging stations for electric vehicles; - Ensuring every household has access to affordable,
high-speed internet; -
Stopping pollution and protecting public health by cleaning up
brownfields and superfund sites and plugging abandoned mine lands and
orphaned wells.
For decades, presidents of both
parties have tried to pass this kind of investment in America -- and
Joe Biden and congressional Democrats were the only ones to do it.
I'm incredibly proud to have been a part of this kind of
investment in the American middle class, and I'm looking forward to
passing the Build Back Better plan to continue working for the
American people in the coming weeks.
Thank you for standing with us. I'm
proud to stand with you.
Best, Ted
