I’ll be honest, folks: it’s been a tough week. On top of the losses Democrats suffered in Virginia, the North Carolina GOP shamelessly used the redistricting process to better their chances of flipping the House.

But we can’t keep our heads down, folks. We need to continue building momentum to make Madison Cawthorn a one-term Congressman. Will you chip in $5 or more to our campaign to help us deliver real leadership to Western NC?

Despite the outcome in Virginia and Republicans’ partisan gerrymander, there were also positives that occurred across WNC this past week -- mainly on Election Day.

For starters, a last-minute vicious, racist attack launched against an outstanding public servant who was running for mayor in Fletcher, NC backfired -- in a big way.

We’re glad to say Preston Blakely was elected mayor decisively.

Then, in Hendersonville, Debbie Roundtree ran for city council. She is a community leader, a working mom, and organizer. She ran for local office twice before and came close.

We knocked doors together in her neighborhood a few times. She knows everyone’s name, including their children and dogs’.

She won.

I know our communities here. We can stand up against bigotry and hatred, and we stand up for each other by talking to our neighbors. And when we do that, we can win.

That’s what we’re running to do. So even on nights when we’re getting tough news, that’s what I know is possible.

Today, we’ve been out hosting another Day of Action, because the only way we’re going to move forward is when we organize and mobilize. An amazing team of more than 35 people joined us today, on the doors and phones and writing postcards. This is how we win.

Can we count on you to help us win the next big victory here in Western North Carolina? Any amount you can contribute will go a long way in providing us with the resources we need to succeed.

The stakes are even higher now against Cawthorn, but when we work together there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.

In solidarity,

Jasmine
